A Pome

A Pome

When I was small I had a book
My mom would read, called Mother Goose.
She read and sang and clapped and rhymed.
I always begged, "Just one more time!"

Well, now I'm grown, with grown-up kids;
I read them Mother Goose a bunch!
Now it's YOUR turn: pack your best pomes
To read at Central tomorrow at lunch!

Brown-bag poetry-sharing begins at noon at Central Library tomorrow, Thursday, January 21, in the West Meeting Room on the first floor. Hope to see you there!

Second Saturday Art Display in Kids' Place

On Saturday, dozens showed up for the Second Saturday Art reception in Kids' Place. Two young artists whose works are on display, Hannah and Ellen Marie Madsen, stayed and played while people socialized, ate and listened to Nicole Waters play the english horn. In addition to the Madsens' pieces, artwork from students at Oakridge Elementary School in Oak Park line the lower-level lobby walls. Second Saturday in Kids' Place will take place again on May 10, with a hands-on arts and crafts table included for the kids. We also hope to add a poetry component to our Second Saturday art displays, which will be organized on a month by month basis depending on community interest. Artwork will remain up through this week. If you or someone you know is under 18 and would like to display artwork or poetry in Kids' Place, we'd love to talk with you.
